The Organisation

Albury Wodonga Health (AWH) is a unique cross-border health service, providing the ‘Best of Health’ to more than 250,000 people across North East Victoria and Southern New South Wales. Operating under the Victorian Department of Health and across 17 campuses, AWH is the second largest regional health service provider and is a major player in community life within the region.

AWH has been a combined Health Service for approximately 12 years and it is now at a time of maturity where the service is moving to the next phase of growth and expansion of capacity, leadership and profile as a major regional service.

The Position

Reporting to the CEO, the Chief Financial Officer is a key executive role within the organisation that will lead the operation of finance and corporate service functions including Financial Performance Reporting, Business Performance, Information Technology, Infrastructure, Supply Chain Operations, Procurement and Health Operations.  As a senior leader, the CFO will be responsible to the CEO and Board to deliver effective management and leadership and will play a key role in strategic development across the functions. The CFO will also drive the development of operational business plans, policy development, business strategies and relationship/ contract management.

As an experienced, collaborative and consultative leader, the CFO will build trusted relationships ensuring operational leadership and clinical front line services are supported across the service. Driving best practice through the development and re-engineering of business processes and management structures, the CFO will continue to develop a culture of responsiveness, efficiency and support so that finance and corporate services are integrated into the day-to-day operations of AWH.

The successful appointee will ideally have knowledge of the health sector or closely aligned environments with complex funding models and have led large finance and corporate services teams. The ability to engage across functions and influence and identify opportunities for change and continuous improvement are key to the success of this role.
