The Position
Peninsula Health recognises that digital technology is the cornerstone for a contemporary health service and is embarking on an ambitious program of digital transformation, harnessing the power of data and technology for improved quality of care and productivity.  As part of its vision of having a digitally connected and enabled health service, the organisation seeks to appoint a new Chief Information Officer (CIO) to progress its bold agenda of digitisation and streamlining systems that will optimise the healthcare experience, making it safe, personal, effective and connected for every person.
Reporting to the CEO, the CIO will lead the delivery of the Peninsula Health Digital Health Strategy 2021-2025 and will be a key advisor to the executive team on IT, cybersecurity and IT risk management.  Augmenting the electronic medical record (EMR) program will be a key accountability for the position as will be the design and delivery of a best in breed cyber security framework and the successful growth of the organisation’s commercial arm, MePACS.
Equipped with an extensive background in the provision of IT and digital services, the successful candidate will have a well-developed understanding of best practice processes and technologies and will have led significant IT teams and budgets in complex service delivery environments.  The appointee will display a highly collaborative approach and will be able to effectively translate technology into meaningful terms with stakeholders.  With the ability to work within a culturally safe and progressive organisation, the CIO will also demonstrate a capacity for strategic thinking combined with strong commercial skills.  This position requires an articulate and confident CIO who has the capacity and credibility to deliver reports at Board level.  Relevant tertiary qualifications required.
The position will be based at the Frankston Hospital, but will be required to work across all sites.
The Organisation
Peninsula Health is the major metropolitan health service for Frankston and the Mornington Peninsula.  Caring for a population of 300,000 people, which swells to over 400,000 people during the peak tourism seasons, the organisation provides care across the life continuum from obstetrics, paediatrics, emergency medicine, intensive care, critical care, surgical and general medicine, rehabilitation, and oncology, through to aged care and palliative care.  With over 6000 staff and 750 volunteers, the organisation also provides services in community health, health education and promotion, ambulatory care, and mental health.
