The Position
Healthscope seeks to appoint a dynamic, inclusive and collaborative Chief Nursing Officer (CNO). The CNO is primarily accountable for providing strong clinical leadership to ensure delivery of safe, quality patient care. Additionally, the position will advance the vision for nursing experience and professional practice whilst providing strategic advice to the Healthscope Executive and Board. The CNO will provide clinical leadership to all nursing staff, fostering a culture that values excellence in patient safety and quality care.
Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer, the CNO will hold responsibility for operational and workforce projects, development of innovative nursing practice and strategic workforce planning. In collaboration with People and Culture, the CNO will define the learning requirements for the nursing workforce at all levels and contribute to the design, development and delivery of education programs across multiple sites. Supporting patient experience strategy, the clinical quality framework and health service accreditation will also be key elements of the position.
The successful candidate will demonstrate nursing management experience gained at a senior level in a large, complex, multi-site environment. With extensive knowledge and experience of professional nursing practice and nursing leadership, the appointee will demonstrate expertise and knowledge of best practice principles relating to continuous improvement and quality assurance. Presenting with highly effective communication and stakeholder management skills, the appointee will lead confidently particularly during periods of change and uncertainty. An understanding of best practice clinical and corporate governance within a complex health environment will be essential.
