The Position
Ingham Institute of Medical Research has grown significantly since its inception in 2012.  Housed in a state of the art, purpose-built research facility, on the northern edge of the Liverpool Hospital campus, the Institute is currently under expansion and by 2025 will be a multi-centred Institute across three campuses.
The Chief Operating Officer is a newly created position, established to operationalise the Ingham Institute Strategy and work with the CEO, Institute Director and partners to establish the Ingham Institute Network Model, a unique model across a large geographical area. Reporting to the CEO, the COO will develop and implement optimal governance and operating models and ensure statutory, legal and regulatory compliance.  The COO will lead the operational delivery across the network including research facilities, IT and general administration and will contribute to planning, funding application and the development of research facilities and infrastructure support teams.
The successful candidate will be a driven and collaborative leader who has experience leading and influencing large and diverse workforces.  The COO will have strong operational experience from within a medical research institute or closely aligned environment and have the ability to guide, foster and support research profiles and teams.  Personal dedication and passion are especially important for this role, as is resilience, and highly developed problem solving skills. This position requires an individual who can work across all levels of the organisation, supporting the continued expansion of the Institutes footprint.

The Ingham Institute for Applied Medical Research conducts world leading and ground-breaking medical research, developing treatments from the latest breakthroughs and translating them into real-world treatments in real time. Founded with the generosity of two great Australian philanthropists, Bob Ingham and Lady Mary Fairfax in 2012 the institute operates as a unique partnership between Liverpool Hospital, Southwestern Sydney Local Health District, UNSW Australia and Western Sydney University.
