The Position
The Women’s and Children’s Directorate has responsibility for the Maternity Ward, Birth Suite, Maternity Assessment Unit, Special Care Nursery, Paediatrics Ward, Hospital in the Home programs, Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Paediatric outpatient services and community home based care post discharge. The maternity and Newborn services are level 5 capability with approximately 2600 births per year.  In 2023 the community responsibilities of the directorate will expand to include a community based Early Parenting Centre and in addition, plans are underway for a new integrated Women and Children’s facility within the existing University Hospital site.
The Co-Director- Women’s & Children’s Health, is accountable for strategic and operational leadership of the directorate and the development of service plans and KPIs to contribute to the achievement of the Directorate’s and Barwon Health’s strategic plans and objectives.
This is a key role within the directorate and will work closely with the Clinical Director as well as COO, providing contemporary leadership to staff, with particular focus on leading the nursing workforce.  The Co-Director will support, build and energise the teams, contributing to a positive and enthusiastic culture, as well as building capability and contributing to leadership development, growing the next generation of leaders. The Co-Director will also lead and develop programs and initiatives and be responsible for safety, quality, and performance reporting.
As an experienced senior leader, with the ability to articulate vision, engage and unify staff, the successful appointee will be a registered Midwife with AHPRA and have experience enhancing organisational performance and leading change and reform.  With the ability to build trusted relationships across the health service, provide professional development opportunities, and deploy clinical practice improvement strategies, the Co-Director will be innovative, influential and have a background that includes industrial relations and financial management experience.
