The Position

Our client is expanding their services and creating a new business operating unit. They seek a Commercial Manager who will be a vital member of the Contract leadership team, responsible for managing all commercial aspects of the new business unit’s contract, including procurement, contract management, financial reporting, and commercial risk management. This role ensures robust budgeting, forecasting, and financial operations, aligning with the business unit’s financial requirements and contractual obligations. The Commercial Manager provides key financial and commercial support to the EGM, engages with internal and external stakeholders, and leads the commercial team to achieve agreed financial outcomes. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in financial management, large contract management, and leadership within complex environments. Experience across government, people services and healthcare are highly desirable.

As a vital member of the Contract leadership team, the Commercial Manager oversees all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. This role ensures effective cost management, contract compliance, and the timely preparation of financial reports. With a focus on delivering accurate financial information, the position supports both the Executive General Manager and key internal and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment with organisational goals, contractual Key Performance Indicators and other business critical requirements.

The Commercial Manager plays a critical role in contract governance and compliance, particularly when working with complex government contracts. This includes managing contract obligations, overseeing supplier and contractor requirements, and optimising financial outcomes. By ensuring compliance with contractual and non-financial obligations, the role safeguards the organisation’s interests and maximises agreed financial commitments, while acting as an escalation point for any disputes with suppliers or contractors.

Providing strong leadership to the commercial team, the Commercial Manager fosters a collaborative and high-performance culture. The role ensures that development plans are in place to drive team success while serving as the primary financial contact for government and external stakeholders. With exceptional communication skills, the Commercial Manager excels in building relationships, delivering results, and driving transformation in a fast paced, growth focused environment.
