Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools Ltd (MACS) seeks an outstanding individual to take a key role in realising the mission of Catholic education, promoting strong, shared leadership, creativity and innovative practice. This key position will fulfil the administrative and statutory obligations of the Company Secretary of MACS, supporting the effectiveness of the MACS Board and ensuring sound governance practices.
Reporting to the Director, Governance and Strategy and the Chair of the MACS Board, the Company Secretary will provide accurate and contemporary advice to the Board and Executive. The role will develop, implement, communicate and maintain compliance policies, processes and procedures, ensuring the highest ethical standards and safeguarding the integrity of the organisation.
The successful candidate will be an experienced company secretary, with a well-developed knowledge of governance compliance and procedures, including appropriate records management. With outstanding communication, interpersonal skills and the gravitas to work closely with senior Board and Executive members, the appointee will require an appropriate tertiary qualification and a collaborative mindset. A commitment to the vision and mission of Catholic education is also essential, acting in accordance with the values of integrity, inclusivity, respect and excellence.
The Organisation
The newly-established Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools Ltd (MACS) will be responsible for the governance and operation of almost 300 Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Melbourne.
With a profound footprint across the community, Melbourne is the largest diocese in Australia and altogether, Catholic schools in the Archdiocese educate more than 153,000 students and employ over 20,000 teachers and support staff.
