The Position
Reporting to the Pro Vice-Chancellor (PVC) and Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Dean will provide academic and executive leadership to the Faculty and will drive a bold and distinctive strategic direction, while providing academic oversight for research and teaching, and holding accountability for civic engagement and external stakeholder management. The Dean will have additional leadership opportunities in the PVC management group.
As the new Dean, operating in a highly competitive market place, you will be able to demonstrate your ability to drive overall excellence and ensure the continued success of the Faculty. Holding a minimum of a PhD or equivalent, you will have a strong record of performance in scholarly activities and previous experience managing a team, with responsibility for financial resources and project management. Your strong academic credibility and stature in the broad sphere of education will be important in continuing to build partnerships and networks in New Zealand and the Australasia region. With a determination to succeed, you will be forward thinking, innovative and flexible in approach, and have a strong understanding of the academic environment and current trends in the education sector internationally.
Your vision, drive and energy will be key in this leadership role to move the Faculty to the next level, while fostering a collaborative, engaged and highly motivated team.
