The Positions

VITS is seeking to fill four Board Director positions, including the position of Deputy Chair.  This is an exciting stage in VITS LanguageLoop’s evolution to join its Board. Harnessing a large workforce combined with advanced technology, the organisation is poised to make significant changes to its business model to meet the challenge of continuing to deliver innovative language services in a dynamic business and language services environment.

As a Board Director, you will:

• Provide strategic capability and expertise
• Oversee high-quality service delivery
• Support and maximise business opportunities
• Enhance VITS LanguageLoop’s profile and reputation as a leading provider of interpreting and translating services in Victoria and nationally
• Ensure the long-term financial sustainability of the organisation
• Contribute to achieving excellent business and public value outcomes.

As Deputy Chair, additional responsibilities include:

• Deputise for the Chair.
• Chair one or more of the Board Committees, and/or advisory or working groups as required.
• Take a lead role in representing the organisation in various forums.
• Support the Chair in the annual Board evaluation process.
• Undertake other duties as assigned by the Chair from time to time.

To be successful in these roles, applicants will demonstrate strategic, analytical and commercial acumen coupled with well-developed communication, governance, engagement and stakeholder management expertise.  Alignment with public sector values; maintaining impartiality and ensuring decisions and actions are made with integrity is critical.  Appreciation of public sector administration and governance in a human services and customer centric context is preferred. Experience or expertise in finance and accounting; information technology; or industrial relations would be highly desirable.

As a Group A, Category 4 entity under the Victorian Government Appointment and Remuneration Guidelines, Board members receive remuneration and allowances at the rates fixed from time to time by the Governor-in-Council.
