The Position
This senior executive role is pivotal to enable agencies, industry, business, government, and community to work together to realise a sustainable and efficient emergency management system that reduces the likelihood, effect, and consequences of emergencies.
Reporting to the Emergency Management Commissioner, you will take accountability for facilitating shared outcomes across the emergency management sector that meet community needs. This will be achieved through developing positive workplace culture and practices, capacity building and executing system-wide reform with integrated policy, strategy, and planning. You will be ready to be deployed to operational duties, act in the Commissioner role when required and represent Victoria and advocate in national forums.
Success in this role requires

  • Previous experience in managing emergency incidents at a senior management level within either an emergency sector Agency or State/National level emergency management control environment.
  • A strong understanding of emergency management arrangements.
  • A track record in managing large, diverse groups in a dynamic environment.

 
You will have a strong reputation as a credible, high impact leader with superior negotiation and influence skills. Your approach will be to deliver results through collaboration. strategic and policy insight and outstanding judgement and nous. Resilience, empathy and robust self-management are important personal attributes
Tertiary qualifications and AIIMS qualifications are desirable.
The Organisation        
Emergency Management Victoria (EMV) leads emergency management in Victoria by working with government, agencies and business to strengthen their capability and capacity to withstand, plan for, respond to and recover from emergencies. EMV is a statutory entity and is part of the Department of Justice & Community Safety (the Department). The Department, through the Secretary, employs EMV staff and provides corporate functions to EMV. EMV is led jointly by the Chief Executive (CE) and the Emergency Management Commissioner (EMC).
Prior to commencement of employment with the department you will need to provide evidence that you are vaccinated against COVID-19.
