The Position
Healthscope is currently seeking to appoint a high calibre professional to the role of Deputy Director of Medical Services to assume responsibility for providing leadership and direction to the medical workforce.
Reporting to the Director of Medical Services, Northern Beaches Hospital, the Deputy Director of Medical Services will have particular responsibility and accountability for the management of the junior medical staff, providing oversight of the medical workforce team responsible for recruiting, rostering, training and support of the junior medical staff. This position will support the Director of Medical Services to shape the medical workforce to align with the operational and strategic needs of the hospital and will manage the junior medical workforce to ensure that patient care is optimised with an engaged, efficient and sustainable group of doctors.
The successful candidate will be a highly credible leader with demonstrated experience in medical management and driving a culture of clinical excellence. They will possess outstanding interpersonal skill and proven team building capabilities. With an engaging and involved leadership style, the ideal candidate will have the ability to manage relationships with a range of stakeholders and motivate and inspire a team to achieve the best outcomes within a complex environment.
Appropriate tertiary qualifications are required, ideally with RACMA accreditation.
The Organisation
Located in beautiful Frenchs Forest, 13km north of Sydney, the brand new Northern Beaches Hospital opened its doors in late October 2018 and provides high quality services for both public and private patients. With approximately 1300 staff, the hospital has 488 beds, 60 percent public and 40 percent private, and every room has a stunning view of the Northern Beaches. It is the cornerstone of Healthscope’s planned growth.
The scope of services offered encompass surgery, emergency, intensive care, cardiac, birthing, paediatrics, mental health, renal and cancer care and outpatients. The hospital also has extensive imaging, pathology and pharmacy on site. The facilities at the hospital include a 50-space emergency department, 14 operating theatres and six surgical suites.
