The Position

Following the promotion of Ann Jorgensen to the Ombudsman role, the PTO is seeking to appoint a new Deputy Ombudsman in 2024 to deliver contemporary alternative dispute resolution and to advocate for passenger improvements across the transport network in Victoria.

The position is responsible for leading day-to-day operations and developing the quality and effectiveness of services in line with the business plan and budget. Along with efficient and timely support for consumers, the role contributes to collaborative relationships with member organisations, government, and other Ombudsman services.

Placing the consumer at the centre. the role ensures enquiries and complaints are effectively and efficiently resolved in line with PTO policies and procedures. It forms part of the leadership team and leads a small team of professional staff accountable for achieving dispute resolution outcomes in line with industry benchmarks and organisational KPIs.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a record of values driven leadership and organisational development with experience in delivering alternative dispute resolution. Exceptional communication, policy and stakeholder skills are expected along with business planning and analytical capabilities. Tertiary or post-graduate qualifications in a related field such as law, dispute resolution or public administration are desirable.
