The Position

Firbank Grammar seeks to appoint a visionary, experienced and dynamic educator to the position of Deputy Principal/Head of Senior School (HoSS). Responsible for overseeing the entire school, the Deputy will ensure the effective and efficient daily operation of the Senior School.

Reporting to the Principal, the Deputy Principal/HoSS will lead the Senior School working collaboratively with the Directors of Learning and Wellbeing. The Deputy Principal/ HoSS will be responsible for the development and nurturing of a learning and performance culture in a stimulating and dynamic environment embedded in contemporary pedagogy and student wellbeing practices. The position will actively role model behaviours for staff and students, developing respect through their actions.

As a highly experienced educator, the ideal candidate will be an inspirational leader who is able to think and act strategically while also being tactical when required. A natural role model for students and staff, the Deputy Principal/HoSS will have outstanding interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrate a leadership and engagement style which is kind and empathetic. With a demonstrable commitment to the professional development of staff, the appointee will share knowledge across the School to improve teaching and learning outcomes. A diversity of thinking and willingness to challenge the status quo will be underpinned by a high energy, results driven and practical approach.  The ideal candidate will possess values which align with and support the School’s philosophy and vision.

The Organisation

Firbank Grammar School was established by Bishop Henry Lowther Clarke in 1909.  Today it caters for over 1200 students. Year 7-12 girls at Brighton Senior School campus, ELC – Year 6 girls at Brighton Turner House campus and ELC – Year 6 coeducational at Sandringham House Campus.  The community is enriched by boarders who join the Brighton Senior School campus from rural areas and overseas.
