The Position
The Deputy Secretary provides strategic and operational leadership in a highly demanding and complex environment. The FFR Group develops forest, fire and emergency management policy and delivers programs and services across the State.  Support is provided to communities to respond and recover from fire and other emergencies. The role also provides policy and expert advice to the Secretary and Ministers and represents government at national and international levels.
Reporting to the Secretary, the Deputy Secretary has significant accountability of a large, geographically dispersed workforce with more than 1,600 staff working from 82 locations across six regions.  You are an inspirational leader who provides certainty, a compelling vision and strategic clarity.  You will have a significant track record in strategic development, reform and operational service delivery. Your well-established leadership experience will include developing collaborative partnerships, managing large groups and significant budgets.
You have an approach to leadership that builds a positive culture across a diverse workforce and embeds a high-performance mindset. As an authoritative adviser, you will bring conceptual and analytical capability along with sound judgement to sensitive and highly complex issues.
Relevant technical qualifications would be an advantage.
