The University of Southern Queensland (USQ) seeks an outstanding individual to contribute to the shaping and support of the University’s strategic objectives, whilst implementing its financial management obligations as Director, Business Advisory and Deputy CFO. As a key member of the Finance and Business Solutions Department, the Director will lead response to changing environments through strategy, planning, operational budgeting and long-term financial outcomes, while ensuring the appropriate stewardship of public resources.
The position will report to, and work closely with, the Chief Financial Officer, and act as a trusted advisor and partner to senior executives University-wide. The Director leads a team of advisors to proactively provide strategically-aligned and innovative business solutions with a forward focus. In collaboration with the broader Executive, the role drives transparency and ownership in enabling the delivery of the University’s strategic objectives and operational priorities through the alignment of key business and finance areas.
With a growing team to develop and mentor, the ideal candidate will be an inspiring and innovative values-based leader, with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to work as a trusted advisor and partner at an executive level. Proficiency in strategic and financial planning will be essential, with the ability to understand the full breadth of complexities in budgeting to support, monitor and evaluate performance objectives.
The successful candidate will hold postgraduate qualifications in business or commerce, with proven leadership in finance and business partnership, gained in a large and complex organisation.
This role is based at the University’s Toowoomba campus.
