The Position
Port Macquarie Hastings Council (PMHC) is seeking to appoint an exceptional commercial leader to the position of Director, Business and Performance.  Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and a member of the Executive Management team of Council, this position is directly accountable for the overall performance of PMHC Business and Performance functions.  The role is key to ensuring the strategic positioning of Council as a regional leader in community service. As a key enabler, this role provides technical, commercial, and strategic support to the whole organisation and fulfils the role of Chief Financial Officer. The role leads approximately 140 staff through six direct reports and is responsible for the Council’s commercial businesses (Port Macquarie Airport, The Glasshouse Arts, Conference and Entertainment Centre, The PMH Environmental Laboratory), finances, digital technology, and the people and culture function.
Bringing a professional, respectful, and collaborative approach, the ideal candidate will have a track record as a senior and authoritative finance executive with proven success in driving innovation and continuous improvement in a dynamic, commercial, and agile environment. The ideal candidate will be a strong influencer, negotiator and problem solver who will inspire, motivate, and drive change and financial efficiency, excellence, and literacy in a complex environment.  An understanding of local government will be advantageous.
Port Macquarie location.
Tertiary qualifications including CA or CPA are essential, additionally an MBA would be an advantage.
