The Position

Mentone Grammar seeks to appoint a strategic and collaborative leader to the position of Director of Business.  The primary purpose for the Director is to provide leadership and management for all non-teaching activities of the school’s operations including accounting and financial planning, property and maintenance, administration, purchasing and compliance.

Reporting directly to the Principal, the Director will be a critical member of the Executive Team in addition to holding responsibilities with the School Board as Company Secretary.  The school is in a strong financial position and is forecast to grow enrolments to meet capacity.  The Director will have a strong strategic focus, working with the present Principal in 2023 and then the new Principal from 2024 to develop the next strategic plan.

The ideal candidate will be a contemporary and dynamic leader who demonstrates strong strategic management capabilities and experience developing and executing strategic plans combined with an ability to see the big picture.  Working with an experienced team, the appointee will demonstrate a sophisticated leadership approach combined with the ability to manage and communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders from Board members to maintenance staff.  Experience in property will drive the management of new building developments to accommodate planned growth. The ideal candidate will exhibit an affinity to the school environment however prior experience in an education setting is not essential. Well developed governance skills along with membership of the AICD and either of CPA or ICAA will be essential.
