The Position
Melbourne Grammar School seeks to appoint a strategic leader to the position of Director of Business & Finance following the announced retirement of the current incumbent, Mr John Jesson, after 22 years of outstanding service.
This is a highly significant senior leadership position and reports directly to the Headmaster.
In addition to providing high level strategic business planning, management and reporting, the Director holds oversight of the business services functions including finance, property, catering, risk and compliance. The Director is a member of the School Executive and has responsibilities to the School Council, most importantly as Secretary.
The ideal candidate will be a contemporary leader, demonstrating broad management experience and strong financial skills.  With demonstrated experience developing and executing complex management and planning initiatives, the appointed person will have the capability to deliver transformational change across an organisation as well as lead a broad portfolio of operational activities.  Displaying an innovative and empowering approach, they will possess sound financial skills combined with strong operational and project management capability. Presenting with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ideal candidate will display high energy and a hands-on approach. The Director of Business & Finance is a highly visible position in the School community and the appointed person will demonstrate an ability to build trust, rapport and develop collaborative working relationships at all levels.
