The Position

The Director of Development and Community Engagement is a pivotal position focused on developing initiatives to cultivate engagement of the school community and strengthen relationships with all stakeholders.

Reporting to the Principal and as a member of the School Executive, the appointee will articulate a strategic vision for development and community engagement and subsequently ensure seamless operational alignment across the areas of admissions, enrolment, marketing, philanthropy, and alumni.  With a relational leadership style, the successful candidate will facilitate a team dedicated to positioning the school as a leader in independent education in Victoria, building on the strong sense of belonging in a diverse and vibrant community.

The ideal candidate will be accomplished in community engagement with specific experience in philanthropy, marketing and communication. Innovation and progressive work practices may have been developed in sectors such as not-for-profit, health, utilities, or education. Exceptional communication, interpersonal and advocacy skills will be crucial in this highly visible role that requires attendance at functions and events, through which they will become a trusted source of information and respected member of the school community.  Success in this position relies on the development of authentic relationships that reflect the diversity and character of the Westbourne’s community.  Flexibility to work at both the Williamstown and Truganina campuses is offered.
