The Position
Melbourne Grammar School is seeking to appoint an energetic professional to the position of Director of Development. The Director will take the lead role in representing the School and managing relationships to develop and lead the strategy to grow philanthropic income from fundraising for the Foundation’s four philanthropic pillars, namely the Indigenous Programme, Buildings and Grounds, Scholarship Fund and the Endowment Fund. With approximately 13,000 engaged past students, past parent and current parents, the Director of Development will continue to develop a culture of philanthropy and to steer the organisation and its group of volunteers through critical fundraising campaigns.
Reporting to the Director of Advancement and Admissions, this position provides executive leadership and support for the Foundation and its members. A strategic approach is required, built on rigorous research, lateral thinking, clear communication and excellent relationships; resulting in major fundraising campaigns being delivered and ongoing income streams identified.
The successful candidate will be an established fundraiser within the education sector and possess a strong capacity to think long term. The appointee will have demonstrated experience working with boards or foundations and will be skilled in both research and strategic planning. Further, the successful candidate will have the style and ability to maintain and build strong relationships at all levels in the community with high levels of written and oral communication skills. Importantly, the appointee will possess the highest professional and ethical standards coupled with a genuine passion for the work and values of the school. Relevant tertiary and/or postgraduate qualifications in business management or sales and marketing will be highly regarded.

Founded in 1858, Melbourne Grammar School fosters excellence through learning and leadership and offers an educational experience ranging across intellectual, social, cultural, spiritual and physical pursuits. Over 1,800 students are educated at the School each year across three campuses.
Development is recognised as an important function within the School and the Melbourne Grammar Foundation comprises a board of selected members of the MGS community who actively encourage philanthropy to help preserve, develop and improve the standards, facilities and well-being of the School.
