The Position
This is a newly created and pivotal leadership position within the College community. Reporting directly to the Principal the primary focus of the position will be to ensure the safety, protection and wellbeing of the children and young people under the care of the College.
The Director will take a lead role in ensuring the College meets its obligations in regard to child safe standards, including the full implementation of the EREA Child Safeguarding Standards Framework. The appointee will provide advice and support to all staff while assisting the Principal, the Board and College Leadership Team to build a child-focussed culture that engages student voice and participation. The Director will develop a network of Safeguarding Officers to ensure students, staff, families, volunteers and contractors know where they can raise safety concerns. In addition, they will provide ongoing education to students on respectful behaviour standards, social media use and their rights as an individual. The Director of Child Safeguarding will have an independent reporting line into the Board
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong prior experience gained within sectors including education, health and the law. With outstanding communication and engagement skills, the appointee will demonstrate integrity at the highest level and inspire trust through actions, values and communication. This role could potentially be offered as a flexible four days a week arrangement.
