Director, Policy and Operations
The Department of Education and Training (DET) is a highly regarded Victorian Government department that leads the delivery of education, training and development services to children, young people and adults.
The Victorian Skills Authority (VSA), an Administrative Office within the DET portfolio, was established by the Victorian Government in July 2021 in direct response to the recommendations of the Skills for Victoria’s Growing Economy review. The VSA will help more Victorians get the training they need to find work. It is the key link between the state’s industries, training providers, employers and communities, and it is working to:
- match Victoria’s employment demands with training
- ensure Victorian employers and communities can find workers with the skills they need, when and where they need them
- ensure Victorians can get training that will help them find a job and build a career.
To do this, the VSA needs the best possible information. It will be gathering evidence about training and employment needs, within communities, and across Victoria and will be sharing its findings in a database and producing an annual Victorian Skills Plan. This will facilitate a better and faster response to employment needs, finding new and improved ways to get students skilled and employed.
The establishment of the VSA has led to the creation of new executive roles and it seeks expressions of interest from highly experienced candidates with the required capabilities.
The Victorian Skills Authority is committed to diversity. The VSA places considerable effort and resources into responding to the needs of staff with disability. People from disadvantaged groups are encouraged to apply for this position. If you require assistance, with the recruitment process, have accessibility or adjustment requirements, please communicate with the contact person listed below, or contact DET’s People Division via email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Information about the VSA’s operations and employment conditions can be obtained here and here. Information about the structure of DET, including details about portfolio Ministers, key staff, regional offices, strategy and annual reports are available here.
