The Position

The Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH) is inspired by their vision of Advancing health for everyone, every day and leads the way in improving the quality of life for all. The RMH now seeks to appoint a Director Quality & Improvement with responsibility for leading, managing and overseeing the operations of the Quality and Improvement teams.  The role will work collaboratively across the organisation and with consumers to ensure the RMH delivers safe, timely, effective, person-centred care within a coordinated organisation-wide framework.

Reporting to the Executive Director Quality, Informatics & Improvement the Director Quality & Improvement is responsible for key functions including clinical risk management, incident investigation and management, national standards accreditation, quality improvement strategy and associated policies and procedures.  This is a critical role to ensure the RMH’s approach to clinical governance remains contemporary, evidence-based and patient focused.

The successful incumbent will be a strategic and dynamic leader who is able to bring people together and engage with a wide variety of stakeholders across operations, clinical services and data.  The appointee will present with prior experience in developing and implementing quality improvement systems with a focus on strategic systems improvement.  Essential skills include managing significant projects, leading change in a large organisation and utilising data to identify priorities.  A strong understanding of how the National Standards Safety and Quality in Health Service Standards work in practice in order to provide meaningful outcomes will be highly regarded.  The successful appointee will be naturally curious, exhibit exceptional interpersonal skills and demonstrate knowledge of the frameworks supporting public health in Victoria.
