The organisation
DET is a highly regarded Victorian Government department that leads the delivery of education and development services to children, young people and adults both directly through government schools and indirectly through the regulation and funding of early childhood services, non-government schools and training programs.
The Higher Education and Skills Group (HES) is leading the delivery of a range of key Government Skills reforms across the post-secondary tertiary education sector. This includes establishing the new Victorian Skills Authority (VSA), the Office of TAFE Coordination and Delivery (OTCD), a dedicated Adult, Community and Further Education (ACFE) Division, and Apprenticeships Victoria. These reforms require new ways of working, both between the new entities and with our stakeholders.
The Office of TAFE Coordination & Delivery Division (OTCD) plays a system leadership and management role for the TAFE network across Victoria. The Division is primarily responsible for driving change in the way in which the TAFE network engages with Government, operates and serves Victorian students and communities.  Structural changes have led to the creation of this new executive role.
The position
Reporting to the Executive Director, TAFE Service Delivery, the role of the Director, TAFE Quality is to provide thought leadership and strategic oversight to advance the current and future settings in the TAFE Quality portfolio: leading engagement across the Department, whole of Government and the sector, to drive the interface between the government’s policy agenda and outcomes for Victorian students and communities.
The Director will provide leadership on key initiatives and projects, ensuring strategic business plans are aligned to Department priorities and reflect government reform agendas as they apply to education.  The executive will play a leading role in the provision of relevant, authoritative, and timely information for enhanced decision making, policy analysis and effective service delivery.
We are seeking expressions of interest from accomplished leaders with a background in financial management, including asset management, strategic planning and project management and superior stakeholder management skills.  An understanding of government processes and/or Education will be highly regarded.
Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline are essential.  A Post Graduate Degree in a relevant discipline is desirable.
