The position
The South Australian Government is driving major reform of child protection systems and out of home care across the state. Amid this time of significant sector reform, the Department for Child Protection seeks to appoint an innovative and transformational leader to the position of Executive Director, Out of Home Care. This senior level operations role will oversee the effective placement of children in family-based environments as well as the delivery of residential care services in line with strategic objectives. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate experience in delivering culturally responsive services for Aboriginal children and young people.
Reporting to the Deputy Chief Executive Officer, the Executive Director, Out of Home Care, will drive the implementation of best practice policies, frameworks, strategies and plans that lead to effective Out of Home Care services across both Government and Non-Government sectors. A key area of reform is growing family-based care.
The successful candidate will be a highly regarded and credible leader in child protection or other related human services areas, with extensive experience operating in a high profile and complex environments. Known for being courageous and resilient and possessing operational management skills in a 24×7 service delivery environment. The appointee will have expert knowledge of innovative service delivery models pertaining to child protection and a track record of delivery of evidence-based practices. Tertiary qualifications in Human Services, business management or another relevant field required.
