The Position
Ambulance Victoria (AV) have undertaken an extensive operations review and now seek to appoint an exceptional Executive Director Operational Communications. The Director will lead the strategic management, performance and delivery of AV’s communications function, including the effective and efficient management of their telephone-based health services, including the Referral Service and Nurse on Call.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this newly created position will lead the development of appropriate operating guidelines and performance standards for AV’s communication staff to provide efficient and consistent approaches to service delivery. Outcomes include matching patient care with service delivery capability across Air Ambulance Victoria, Adult Retrieval Service, Nurse on Call, Non-emergency Patient Transport and telehealth services.
Equipped with senior operations and/or management experience in an emergency service organisation, the successful candidate will have strong working knowledge of telecommunications technology and of industry trends. As a leader with proven experience in establishing green field sites, the ideal candidate will be skilled in driving and implementing strategic business directions coupled with strategic organisational change. Further, the appointee will have an exemplary record of leading high functioning teams and will possess outstanding stakeholder management skills. A tertiary qualification in business, management or public administration is required.

AV provides emergency medical response to more than 5.8 million people in an area of more than 227,000 square kilometres. Ambulance Victoria responds to more than 840,000 emergency and non-emergency cases, and transports more than 660,000 patients by road or air each year.
