The Position

The Finance Manager is central to the commercial performance and sustainability of the school. The role has responsibility for the management of key financial functions in the school including all special purpose funds, trading accounts (uniform shop, aquatics program/learning to swim school), Associations and Friends Groups accounts and the delivery of a comprehensive range of best practice financial management and accounting services.

Reporting to the Business Manager, you will be a strong collaborator and communicator, who will work closely with key stakeholders across the organisation and the school community. You will be able to demonstrate your ability to manage, coach and lead a team, delivering successful outcomes and will have gained significant experience in a school, or similar complex organisations.

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic leader, preferably with CPA or ICA qualifications, With a strong understanding of accrual accounting principles, you will also have expertise in the delivery of management reporting.  Knowledge of Synergetic and/or previous experience in a similar role in an educational environment would be an advantage but not essential.

The Organisation

Located in the heart of Melbourne’s inner eastern suburbs, Strathcona is a leading girls’ school based in Canterbury catering for girls and boys in the ELC and girls only from Prep to Year 12. The School accommodates approximately 800 students with long standing and strong ties to the wider community. The School comprises three campuses with the Junior and Senior Schools located in Canterbury and the Year 9 cohort housed at the historic Tay Creggan campus in Hawthorn. The ELC is located on the Senior Campus.
