The Position
The trusted and respected community health service, Merri Health, seeks to appoint a new General Manager to oversee its growing Aged and Primary Care Division. This Division provides a range of services around dental, prevention and complex care and supports choice, connection and independence for anyone 65 years and over.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the General Manager Aged and Primary Care will lead the delivery of best-practice, high quality services that strengthen the capacity of individuals and communities across the growing areas of north and west metropolitan Melbourne region. With a budget of $17m, the portfolio is broad and there is a high expectation for portfolio growth and reform.
Equipped with a background in health and human services, the ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of contemporary aged care services and will have a sound understanding of sector reforms. Recognised as an authentic and collaborative leader who is able to perform in an autonomous manner, the appointee will have a track record of inspiring, motivating and empowering staff, as well as developing services that are responsive to consumer needs. An outstanding communicator and innovative thinker, the new General Manager will be known as a thought leader who readily shares knowledge and ideas and who constructively co-designs consumer centric services.

The organisation has been a trusted provider of wellbeing services for over 45 years and today has over 400 staff making it one of Victoria’s largest not-for-profit community health organisations. With a reach extending from north / west metropolitan Melbourne to Wodonga, the service currently operates from 12 sites in addition to several co-located facilities. Merri Health continues to take a stand with the most vulnerable in our community, ensuring equitable access of healthcare to those who would otherwise fall through the gaps in the current health system.
