The Position

The General Manager, Business Development (GMBD) is a newly created strategic leadership role reporting directly to the Chief Strategy Officer (CSO). The GMBD will be instrumental driving growth, revenue diversification and the long-term sustainability of ACSO. This position will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive business development strategies, forging partnerships, and expanding our professional networks to ensure the continued success and positive reputation of ACSO within the not-for-profit sector.

The GMBD will work closely with the Senior Leadership team to develop ACSO’s value proposition and leverage our standing as a leading agency in service delivery, complex clients, and the broader community services sector to attract clients, partners and new opportunities.

While working collaboratively across the organisation, the role requires a self-starter who can convert plans into action and outcomes and is accustomed to managing by KPIs.

What we’re looking for

  • Extensive experience in senior business development roles creating and implementing successful business development strategies resulting in growth and diversification
  • Demonstrated success in securing funding through development of winning tender submissions, unsolicited proposals and other commercial/corporate funding
  • Experience successfully identifying and managing strong productive networks and partnerships with stakeholders including government departments, funding bodies and other external parties both commercial and philanthropic.
  • Strong understanding of the Australian not-for-profit landscape, funding models, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience in successfully leading high performing business development teams and working collaboratively across business units
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build relationships and engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and capitalise on opportunities.
  • Exceptional organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in using CRM software and other relevant tools.
  • Highly autonomous and able to self-manage with a can-do attitude
