Summary
Seeking a talented and passionate operational leader to lead the team at Mercy Hospital for Women. This tertiary hospital offers obstetric, gynaecological and neonatal services. The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is co-located with the Special Care Nursery and collectively they care for some of Victoria’s most unwell babies. The General Manager position has been created to support an exciting growth strategy.
The Position
Mercy Health is pursuing an ambitious and exciting growth strategy. To support this development and expansion, the organisation has created a new position, that of General Manager to lead its tertiary hospital based in Heidelberg, Mercy Hospital for Women. Mercy Health seeks a talented and passionate operational leader to oversee and be accountable for the day-to-day management of this respected facility.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer of Mercy Health, the General Manager of Mercy Women’s Hospital will lead a supportive and dedicated team to drive continued improvement in clinical outcomes, customer experience and financial performance. Key elements of the role will be developing new models of care that provide best patient outcomes as well as coaching and developing senior managers and clinicians to ensure optimal learning and patient outcomes.
The successful candidate will have extensive management experience within a large, complex healthcare or other relevant organisation at a senior level. Recognised as an outstanding communicator and collaborator, the appointee will demonstrate a record of building high performing teams and of driving organisational change programs. Presenting as dynamic, enthusiastic, self-motivated, the new General Manager will be the sort of leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment. They will be reflective, have a growth mindset and be aligned to the values of compassion, hospitality, respect, innovation, stewardship and teamwork.
Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or extensive experience in managing hospital patient access and flow improvement initiatives required as is an Allied Health or Nursing/Midwifery qualification.

Mercy Hospital for Women is a fully accredited Level 6 Public Specialist Teaching Hospital providing both public and private patient care through maternity services, neonatology and paediatrics, perioperative services, gynaecology, women’s health and associated health, support and diagnostic services.
