Due to the retirement of the previous incumbent, Monash Children’s Hospital seek to appoint a new General Manager to lead and manage the operations of the Monash Children’s Program. Key areas of emphasis for the General Manager will include development and implementation of Program strategy and operational plans, leadership of performance improvement in quality and safety, excellence in clinical practice, and development of key partnerships.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the General Manager will join a growing health service that is ready to evolve into a new phase of development and will focus on strategic growth and planning. With responsibility for the operational activity of the Children’s Program, the General Manager will ensure that service operates efficiently and effectively to meet operational and financial targets.
The appointee will present with strong leadership experience and a demonstrated commitment to clinical excellence and delivering outcomes in an acute setting. The appointee will provide strong and effective leadership to staff, while fostering a culture that supports quality patient care, financial responsibility and improvements through innovation. With well-developed written and oral communication skills, the appointee will exercise sound judgement and lead professional standards. Presenting with highly effective interpersonal and influencing skills, the ability to develop credibility and solid relationships with multiple stakeholders will be key to success in this position. While paediatric experience is not essential, the appointee must demonstrate a clinical background combined with either a relevant tertiary qualification in health management or demonstrated progress toward one.

Monash Children’s Hospital is a network of paediatric healthcare services across three sites – a main campus in Clayton (co-located with Monash Medical Centre) and satellite sites at Dandenong and Casey Hospitals. The service provides for Victoria’s largest Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and provide leading Paediatric services in Surgery, Rehabilitation, Oncology, Paediatric Intensive Care Unit, and Palliative Care. Monash Children’s Hospital is also the Victorian Referral Centre for many low-volume and high-complex cases. Services are linked to an adult service, allowing Monash Health to provide transition-of-care as children grow older and move to an adult service.
