The Position

The Group Director Clinical Governance will provide strategic and operational leadership, ensuring safe and high-quality patient care is consistently delivered, monitored and improved across all Epworth hospital divisions.

Reporting to the Executive Director and Medical Service/Chief Medical Officer, the Group Director will take carriage and have oversight of systems improvement, to support staff and VMO’s to deliver safe, effective and appropriate care that results in high quality clinical care outcomes. The Group Director will embed the clinical governance framework and establish a culture of improvement, enhancing workforce capability to optimise safe and high-quality care. With a strategic and operational lens, the Group Director will identify and mitigate risk, ensure rigorous monitoring and reporting and will review and have oversight of activities to improve performance.  The Group Director will develop key relationships across all Epworth hospitals and will influence and provide expert advice and assurance to Executive, Board and the broader leadership teams on clinical governance within the health service.

The successful incumbent will be a proven clinical senior leader with experience in the development and embedding of clinical governance frameworks within large health services.  The Group Director will be empathetic, compassionate and driven,  establishing a culture of clinical excellence across the large portfolio, embedding a patient centric approach and one that is focused on innovation, problem solving and continuous improvement. Agility in thinking and approach and the ability to work in close collaboration with clinical peers will contribute to the success of this role. Registration with AHPRA as a Medical Practitioner, Nurse or Allied Health Professional is essential and post graduate qualifications in health, business or management at Masters level or equivalent will be highly desirable.
