The Position
The Head of Drug Development Biology will report directly to the CEO and will work closely and in parallel with the Head of Medicinal Chemistry, managing the biology and pharmacology of Gertrude’s drug discovery pipeline.  Leading and mentoring a team of internal and external scientists, the Head of Drug Development Biology will support the development of potent target inhibitors for the treatment of oncological and vascular indications.  The position will include responsibility and oversight for project management, resources, budget and stakeholder engagement including with consultants, academic researchers and CROs. Assisting the CEO with reporting and presentations for internal and external purposes, the Head of Drug Development Biology will also contribute to the strategic direction of Gertrude Biomedical.
The successful candidate will be experienced in the leadership and development of a scientific team, with the ability to bring scientific expertise to support the development of novel therapeutics for the treatment of human vascular disease. With a PhD majoring in biochemistry, pharmacology or biology, the incumbent will ideally have post graduate qualifications and experience in a commercially focused, scientific environment. Experience in drug development and project management including project planning, execution, monitoring and completion of therapeutic development will be essential for this role.
With strong interpersonal, organisational and time management skills, the Head of Drug Development Biology will be commercially focused, with the ability to influence, consult and deliver results.  Adaptability to changing demands, an understanding of relevant regulatory requirements and industry best practice will be key to the success of this role.
