The Organisation

Red Cross is part of the world’s largest humanitarian Movement. Red Cross mobilises the power of humanity to bring people and communities together in times of need and builds on community strengths.

Long after the flood waters have receded or the fires have burned out, Red Cross people remain on the ground, helping devastated communities to not only recover, but also develop stronger resilience for any future disasters.

As a body independent of government, and with no political, religious, or cultural affiliation, the organisation strives to improve peoples’ lives and build their resilience no matter who they are or where they live.

All Red Cross work is guided by the seven Fundamental Principles of the Red Cross Red Crescent movement: Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity, and Universality.
