The Position
Caulfield Grammar School seeks to appoint a Head of Kakadu Program to lead and develop the next phase of its world first program of experiential learning and community partnership. Based in Jabiru with our team of 17 educators and support staff, we seek an outstanding educational leader who demonstrates experience and understanding of the complexities of a residential program that incorporates cultural immersion, outdoor education, and community service learning. Kakadu is the base for Caulfield Grammar School’s Year 9 program.
The Head of Kakadu Program will be required to engage fully with the staff, students, and the broader community in Jabiru. They will manage key relationships and partners that are required to lead the day to day running of the program.
The program is based on site at the Kakadu National Park – a dual world heritage site and one of only a small handful of places on Earth recognised for both its cultural and environmental significance. The Head of Kakadu Program will lead and develop the program for all Caulfield Grammar School Year 9 students who will be in residence for approximately 24 days in groups of up to 50 students.
The appointee will be innovative, an excellent communicator and a strong educational leader. They should be flexible and adaptable in the delivery of an outstanding program that includes student immersion in local communities, student collaboration with a variety of people and groups, student driven inquiry, teamwork, leadership and reflection. The appointee will demonstrate a strong ability to build relationships, have experience dealing with the dynamic nature of a remote environment, and be measured and composed in their approach.
The appointee will demonstrate a clear sense of direction and purpose with a collaborative leadership style and the ability to make decisions in a timely manner.
