The Position
Reporting to the Head of Campus, St Kilda Road, the Head of Middle School for the St Kilda Road Campus is responsible for leading a teaching and administrative team for Years 5 to 9. A member of the Campus Executive and the campus Curriculum Operational Committee, the Head of Middle school holds responsibility for staff management, pastoral care and the academic performance of students in the Middle School.
The Head of Middle School will develop structures and processes to ensure College and Campus priorities are achieved in addition to maintaining a focus on the pursuit of academic excellence and curriculum development. Other key areas of focus for the position will be leadership of the pastoral care program, support for the Student Leadership Program and ongoing promotion of the school within the parent and wider community.
The successful candidate will have outstanding interpersonal skills and a supportive and collaborative management and leadership style that nurtures, challenges and inspires students and staff. Presenting with a strategic mindset, the appointee will demonstrate an understanding of contemporary approaches to wellbeing in educational environments. The Head of Middle School will display high energy and strong influencing skills in addition to the ability to question and manage change. There are high expectations for both staff and students and the incoming Head will have an adaptive style to enable them to engage at the appropriate levels. The position will suit a highly organised and detailed individual who demonstrates excellent presentation skills. Familiarity and experience with the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP) is highly desirable, but not essential
