The Position
The prominent mental health and suicide prevention organisation, Beyond Blue, seeks to appoint a Head of Policy and Communications leader.  The Policy and Communications Unit is responsible for driving Beyond Blue’s efforts to reform the mental health and suicide prevention systems in Australia, by shifting the narrative about anxiety, depression and suicidality, and influencing public policy.
Reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer, the Head of Policy and Communications is responsible for leading the Policy and Communications Unit, which includes the media team; strategic communications team; policy and advocacy team; Government and Primary Health Network (PHN) relations; and providing support to the Office of the Chair.  As a valued member of the management team, a key element of the role will be to continue fostering a values-based culture that embeds community-centricity into Beyond Blue’s day-today operations.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong capacity to think both strategically and tactically. You will be creative and innovative, and present with highly developed written and verbal communication skills, coupled with exceptional attention to detail.
Presenting with an engaging leadership style and as an outstanding collaborator, the successful candidate will have a track record of managing and executing programs, combined with a strong, hands on approach to deliver in priority focus areas. Engagement and influencing skills are paramount, as well as the ability to develop strong partnerships with stakeholders including government, not-for-profits, media and corporate partners. Relevant tertiary qualifications in an appropriate field are highly desirable.
