The Position

Reporting to the Head of Campus, St Kilda Road, the Head of Senior School for the St Kilda Road Campus is responsible for leading a teaching and administrative team for Years 10 to 12.  A member of the Campus Executive and the Campus Curriculum Committee, the Head of Senior school holds responsibility for staff management, pastoral care and the academic performance of students in the Senior School.

The Head of Senior School will maintain a focus on the pursuit of academic excellence, curriculum development and student wellbeing.  Other key areas of focus for the position will be leadership of the pastoral care program, promotion and development of student leadership, oversight of student academic progress and ongoing promotion of the school within the parent and wider community.  The position will work collaboratively with Heads of House, the Assistant Head of Senior School and the Head of Campus.  Other critical areas of engagement will be with the Head of Student Wellbeing and Head of Teaching and Learning.  The Head of Senior School is expected to maintain a teaching role within the school.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a successful record of achievement in a leadership position in a senior school environment. With outstanding interpersonal skills, the successful candidate will exhibit a supportive and collaborative management and leadership style that nurtures, challenges and inspires students and staff. Presenting with a strategic mindset, the appointee will demonstrate an understanding of contemporary approaches to wellbeing in educational environments.  The Head of Senior School will display high energy and strong influencing skills in addition to the ability to question and manage change.  There are high expectations for both staff and students and the incoming Head will have an adaptive style to enable them to engage at the appropriate levels.  The position will suit a highly organised and detailed individual who demonstrates excellent presentation skills. The appointee will demonstrate at least five years teaching experience in the senior years with VCE and IB experience an advantage.
