The Position

ELTHAM College seeks to appoint a Head of Sport, Health and Physical Education who will be responsible for the creation and enhancement of programs across the entire sports ecosystem that promotes authentic and provocative learning. The sports ecosystem is defined as all the on-field and off-field roles across the entire sports industry. From referees and umpires to statisticians and sports trainers, commentators and journalists. The College’s goal is that “every student, by having been involved in the sport program at ELTHAM College, leaves with a positive attitude and desire to continue a lifelong journey of investing in their physical health and wellbeing.”

A newly created role that combines Sports with the Health and Physical Education Faculty. In this role you will evaluate and coordinate existing courses and programs and will develop innovative learning and teaching programs that not only demonstrate ‘best practice’ but are at the forefront of teaching.

This role will report to the Deputy Principal and will work with other faculties across the College to create opportunities for young people to participate in the sports program in roles other than only playing. The vision is a pathway and applied learning approach to ensure participation at some level – whether it be photographing the sporting activities or participating as an elite athlete.

You will be an experienced and inspiring leader, with a demonstrated background in sports education and curriculum development, with expertise in leading a cohesive team to ensure stated outcomes are delivered. You have experience developing and maintaining systems and processes that will facilitate the implementation and on-going development of the College’s Sport Strategy. The appointee will understand working within a teaching environment and possess ‘Big thinking’ skills, with a strong vision for the Sport, Health and Physical Education Faculty and deliver enhanced wellbeing and physical education for the young people at ELTHAM College
