The Position
Reporting to, and working closely with, the Chief Executive Officer, the Legal Director, Day Services (hereafter called the Legal Director) is a key leader at FLS. The position provides leadership and direction to the organisation and deputise for the CEO as required. As a member of the executive team, and within a growing and dynamic organisation addressing diverse community need, the Legal Director supports the achievement of FLS’s strategic and operational goals.
The Legal Director provides leadership, management and oversight of the FLS day legal practice, setting a standard of excellence and quality improvement and ensuring the practice complies with its professional obligations. They develop the organisation’s profile as a leader in high quality and innovative casework, policy and law reform and legal service innovation.
You will be an Australian Legal Practitioner eligible to hold a Principal Practising Certificate (authorised to receive trust money); and a skilled lawyer with at least 5 years PAE in areas such as Criminal law, Family law or family violence or Admin law /public interest law. Critical to success will be an alignment to mission that embodies the values of FLS. Demonstrated success as a leader is preferred, coupled with a desire to enhance service delivery, planning and innovation. The successful incumbent will offer a contemporary understanding of the policy and legislative environment.
