The Manager, Civil Registry will oversee end-to-end systems of services and processes in both the Commercial and Common Law Divisions of the County Court.
The Position 
The County Court of Victoria looks to be a leader in court excellence, delivering the highest standard of justice to the community and inspiring public confidence in the rule of law. The Manager, Civil Registry will oversee end-to-end systems of services and processes in both the Commercial and Common Law Divisions of the County Court. By understanding the barriers internally within the Court and externally for service users, the role will develop solutions to remove those barriers and support the efficient flow of cases. Considering the current and future demands of the County Court, the Manager, Civil Registry will work in consultation with the Judiciary and Law Reform, Common Law Operations, Commercial Operations, Client Engagement and Service Delivery and initiate and manage relationships with practitioners and other service users to future-orient the business and test proposed solutions.
The newly-created position oversees the implementation of an integrated approach to managing cases in Common Law and Commercial Divisions working closely with the Judiciary and their support teams. The Manager will initiate and manage relationships with practitioners and other service users to understand the barriers that are experienced in undertaking work. The Manager, Civil Registry will be influential through change and have a demonstrable history of leading in ambiguity. S/he will be highly credible, demonstrate influential leadership and be compelling in style.  Applicants who have an understanding of civil litigation systems will be highly regarded, as will applicants who hold a Bachelor of Laws, particularly if the applicant has practised.
The Organisation
The County Court of Victoria has original and appellate jurisdiction and is the principal trial court in the State of Victoria. The Court hears over 11,000 criminal, common law and commercial cases each year. With a total of 65 Judges of the Court and over 200 staff, including judicial support staff, the County Court regularly conducts circuit sittings at 12 circuit courts situated in major centres throughout regional Victoria.
