The Position
The Parks and Natural Environment Department provides highly visible and impactful services for the community. Building on strong community support for the portfolio, Council seeks innovation and adoption of industry best practice to ensure that it remains at the forefront of achieving place making excellence.
Reporting to the Director Infrastructure, you will lead a large team overseeing the maintenance and development of Council’s open space, sports fields, horticulture and park assets. You will oversee Council’s nursery and take carriage of key strategies and policies related to the natural environment. Establishing, building and maintaining relationships with community groups, sports clubs, parks users and the general community is a key and highly rewarding component of the position.
The successful candidate will bring substantial experience of leading maintenance services and strategy development in the areas of parks and the natural environment. Other related experience in recreation or similar will be considered. Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills are necessary, along with a track record in continuous improvement.
