The Position
The City of Whitehorse has a rich history of community involvement and engagement. Recreation and sport is a significant part of the city’s community life and provides opportunities for individuals and communities to come together to achieve, celebrate, socialise and for mutual support and encouragement.
Reporting to the Director Community Services, the Manager, Recreation and Leisure is responsible for the planning, delivery and management of Council’s leisure and recreation services. Establishing, building, and maintaining relationships with councillors, executive, community groups, sports clubs, and the general community is a key and highly rewarding component of the position.
The successful candidate will have experience building capability, culture and performance of a large team, while also providing strategic management of aquatic, leisure and recreation portfolios, Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills are necessary, along with a track record of contributing to a transformation agenda through commitment to continuous improvement, service excellence and change leadership.
