The Position
The Manager Urban Sustainability provides leadership and direction across the City of Melbourne’s climate change mitigation and adaption strategies and programs, urban resilience and social sustainability programs and understanding of and response to urban vulnerability. The position is a member of the City Strategy & Place Group Management Team, and City of Melbourne’s Management Team.
This position leads the improvement of environmental and social sustainability, urban health and resilience in the municipality. The position has a specific focus on vulnerability, changing climate and population and urban densification.  The Manager, Urban Sustainability develops and implements strategies, policies and programs for Melbourne’s institutional, business and residential community and for the City of Melbourne, working in collaboration with other parts of the organisation as well as local and global partners.
With exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, you will be experienced in the management of assets, natural resources or a related environment coupled with strong experience in project and landscape works management. You will demonstrate knowledge of national and international urban sustainability trends and with superior time and project management skills you will continuously challenge and benchmark the organisation’s performance against best practice. You will have demonstrated experience in driving change and leading a team to deliver on innovative solutions with high level stakeholder and organisational buy-in. Tertiary qualifications and/or proven achievement in environmental science, natural science, horticulture and resource management is required.
