The Position

The Audit and Risk Committee (ARC) of Monash University are seeking an external member, preferably with knowledge of ICT and/or cyber risk. The Committee Member will be responsible for contributing to the appropriate strategic direction of the University and for the achievement of the highest standards of governance. The ARC promotes accountability and supports measures to encourage an environment of continuous improvement and effective management. It also oversees and monitors the internal audit, compliance and risk functions, in addition to ensuring the integrity of financial reporting systems and effective liaison with external auditors.
The successful candidate will bring an appreciation and understanding of the role of an Audit and Risk Committee and will ideally have prior experience as a Board or Sub-Committee member. With a commercial mindset and a high level of financial literacy, the appointee will have a strong sense of ethical behaviour and be passionate to share their expertise in technology to ensure the integrity of the Committee’s decision-making. The capacity to commit time and expertise to the Committee and broader University is essential.
With tertiary qualifications and AICD qualifications preferred, the successful candidate will ideally commence in April/May 2021 for an initial term of three years. The appointee will be required to prepare for and attend six to eight meetings per annum.
