The Position

The Operational Director Quality & Safety (ODQS) works collaboratively with the organisation’s senior leaders, managers and staff to promote a culture that facilitates the delivery of high-quality healthcare through monitoring, collating and the evaluation of the Yarrawonga Health (YH) Quality and Risk Management framework/s.

Reporting to the Director of Clinical Services, this position is central in driving quality performance and improvement systems, inclusive of consumer feedback and engagement which in turn, support and maintain a focus on consumer directed care at all levels of YH.

With a focus on effective quality governance systems, this role will lead and be supported by a diverse team in community and volunteer engagement, health and quality information, infection prevention and control, clinical education and professional development.

The ODQS is responsible for overseeing accreditation requirements as applicable to YH services, compliance processes, and the implementation of the YH Quality and Risk Management governance frameworks.

The ODQS plays a key influencing and engagement role, ensuring stakeholders understand audit requirements and can connect benefits to patient and resident experience and the best possible health outcomes.  The ideal candidate will bring demonstrated leadership skills, and past experience in a quality, risk and/or performance improvement role in healthcare.  Strong communication skills and the ability to report effectively at board level will be important requirements, as will tertiary qualifications in a relevant field.

A current drivers’ licence, relevant background checks and immunisation history is a requirement for this position.

Yarrawonga Health are located on the magnificent Murray River and the shores of Lake Mulwala, on the border of Victoria and New South Wales.  The area is a popular tourist destination and home to a vast array of local attractions and community activities.

As a 119 bed (including Aged Care) fully integrated rural public health service, YH employs approximately 300 staff and service a 100 km radius with an estimated catchment area of around 12,000 people.  Located approximately 350 km north-east of Melbourne, YH is guided by its’ vision to strengthen health in its community through excellence and innovation.
