  • Join a newly established division with imprimatur to drive sweeping workplace reform
  • Apply psychological principles to initiatives to create a safe, fair and inclusive organisation
  • Provide expert advice to support the workforce through a period of significant change

The Position
AV seeks to appoint a talented and dynamic Organisational Psychologist to join its newly established Equality & Workplace Reform Division. This is a pivotal position which initially will support a collaborative and integrated organisational response to the independent review into workplace undertaken by the Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission (VEOHRC). As an authoritative expert, the Organisational Psychologist will provide advice and will influence how AV can make meaningful change to prevent and respond effectively to discrimination, sexual harassment, bullying and victimisation, with a view to creating a safe, speak up culture where all parts of the workforce feel supported.
Reporting to the Director of Workplace Reform, the Organisational Psychologist will review structures, assess capacity and readiness for change, and develop appropriate responses in partnership with key stakeholder groups. Essential elements of the role include ensuring application of industry best practice and delivering effective and highly ethical change management support.
The ideal candidate will be a qualified psychologist registered with Ahpra and will bring advanced knowledge of organisational leadership, equality and reform theories. Resilient, empathetic and comfortable challenging the status quo, the incumbent will be known for having excellent facilitation skills and helping people move through change in a positive and constructive way. Experience working with a range of emergency response, health or 24/7 service delivery industries and organisations will be seen as advantageous. Demonstrating strong interpersonal skills, the new Organisational Psychologist will be an inspiring leader who has a strong ability to persuade the most entrenched operators.
The Organisation
At Ambulance Victoria we are proud to share our commitment to save and improve lives by providing outstanding care for our patients. It is our promise to every patient and it sits at the heart of everything we do. No matter what corporate or support role you play in delivering our critical services to the Victorian public, you join a team dedicated to bringing our vision of ‘Outstanding emergency health care every time’ to life.
As a valued member of AV, you will enjoy a professional working environment that recognises the importance of work/life balance. Although there will be a requirement to maintain a presence at Headquarters, flexible working arrangements are available and will be discussed with the successful candidate. We offer salary packaging options, generous personal leave entitlements, accrued days off for full time roles, and other benefits including free on-site parking.
Occasional travel throughout metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria may be required.
Successful applicants will need to have received the mandated COVID-19 vaccinations and be willing to complete pre-employment screening including a Police Check.
By applying for this position with Ambulance Victoria, you agree to undertake an assessment of any Secondary Employment or outside interests, in line with AV’s Secondary Employment procedure. This is required to ensure there is no perceived or actual conflict of interest for AV should you be successful and commence in the role.
At all levels of AV, a diverse and inclusive workforce allows the organisation to deliver Best Care to the Victorian community, and helps create a healthier, more productive workplace for the people within AV.
