The Position
Girton Grammar School seeks to appoint an exceptional and inclusive educator and leader to the position of Principal.  The School Board seeks to appoint an inclusive leader who will embrace the philosophy of the school while using their own educational leadership and experience to create a legacy for future generations to enjoy.
With responsibility for the ongoing leadership and management of the school, the Principal will focus on driving the quality of education and academic practices, in addition to developing and supporting a strong community focus.  Reporting to the Board, and working with an experienced and capable executive team, the Principal will be responsible for the overall management of the School operations including the education and welfare of students, supervision and professional development of staff and the successful delivery of the strategic plan. The Principal will actively work to promote the values of the School and enhance its standing and reputation in the community. The Principal will drive the implementation of effective, contemporary teaching and learning strategies while maintaining a focus on the individual child with a commitment to delivering excellent student learning outcomes.
In considering applicants for the position of Principal, the School Board are looking for individuals who demonstrate a strong cultural fit to the school and the appropriate gravitas to engage all stakeholders. Potential candidates will be progressive and contemporary in their personal and professional approach, with an understanding of how to grow and develop a school in a regional setting.  In addition to demonstrating the qualities of a successful leader, it is essential the appointee has a strong ability to relate to and build confidence in the community.
The Organisation
Girton Grammar School is an independent, coeducational school from Prep to Year 12 that strives for excellence in both academic and co-academic areas of education in a caring Christian environment. Founded in 1884, Girton Grammar is one of Australia’s oldest schools with a rich history of traditions that give the school its distinct character.
The School is spread over two campuses, Junior School (Prep to Year 6) and the Senior School (Year 7 to 12).  With a reputation for fostering academic success, the school also provides for outstanding pastoral care.  Girton Grammar is a world leader in the teaching of emotional intelligence in the school environment. Since 2011 the school has been implementing the RULER approach from Yale University’s Centre for Emotional Intelligence.
