The Position

St Rita’s College is an independent Catholic day school for girls from Years 5 – 12 with over 1,200 enrolled students in 2023. St Rita’s was established by the Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in 1926, and has become renowned for its academic achievement, inclusivity and co-curricular program.

Mrs Dale Morrow, the current Principal of the College, has announced her retirement which will take effect at the end of 2023.  The College therefore seeks to appoint an inspirational and innovative educator to the position of Principal, commencing in January 2024.  Mrs Morrow’s term as Principal for the past fifteen years has been exemplary and her contribution to the development of the College’s spiritual, academic and educational practices has been very significant.

Reporting to the St Rita’s Board, the Principal will build on the current strengths of this leading Catholic Girls’ College in Queensland.

Potential candidates will be progressive and contemporary in their personal and professional approach to the role, calling on a sound knowledge and effective display of the qualities required of successful educational leaders of today.

The incoming Principal will have a deep and abiding understanding of Catholicism as well as an appreciation of the significance the Presentation charism brings to the mission of Catholic education. They will need to have understanding of emerging trends in girls’ education and have highly developed interpersonal skills to build relationships with all stakeholders across the community and the ability to manage complex issues, both current and emerging.

As well as the successful candidate being a strong educational leader who can guide the future of education delivery, the appointee will provide the spiritual leadership of the College community.  A contemporary and creative outlook combined with high emotional intelligence and a calm and pragmatic demeanour will ensure success in this leadership position.
