The Opportunity
Fiji National University seeks to appoint a new Pro Vice-Chancellor (Learning and Teaching) to embrace the opportunity to bring strategic leadership, commitment and energy to deliver on its commitment to student employability and its vision of being recognised as a key driver of Fiji’s economic prosperity, for students, staff and the community.
Reporting to the Vice-Chancellor, this key position is responsible for developing and implementing the University’s strategies for learning, teaching and student experience in alignment with the FNU Strategic Plan.  Promoting and enhancing all aspects of the student experience, the PVC is responsible for international accreditation and quality assurance, in addition to leading educational innovation and program development, including eLearning and micro-credentialling.
With a focus on continued improvement, the PVC will embed an institutional culture that ensures integration of both higher education and technical and vocational education and training (TVET), recognising that both are essential for national and regional development.
With a commitment to equity and diversity, the successful candidate will have high academic credibility and a passion for driving outcomes and engagement.  A track record in a dual-sector environment will be key, with experience in designing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating successful learning, teaching and student engagement strategies.  Outstanding communication skills, a change mindset and the ability to see creative solutions to complex challenges will be essential.  The PVC is expected to be PhD-qualified with an appropriate track record in academic achievement.
